2019 AMET Conference

Conference Theme Art Contest
Migrant Today, Leader Tomorrow 
Attention High School Migrant Students!! 

General Information​

These rules and procedures apply to the 2019 AMET Art Competition. 

  • The competition is open to high school (grades 9-12) migratory students with a current, valid COE for the 2018-2019 school year. 

  • Artwork must be two-dimensional. Artwork can be no larger than 11 inches high and 8 ½ inches wide. Keep in mind that the selected artwork will be vertical on a program cover. 

  • Artwork must be of the student’s own original idea and design. 

  1. Plagiarism and/or violation of copyright laws is unacceptable.

  2. Artwork deemed to be as such will be disqualified. 

  • Artwork must capture and demonstrate the 2019 AMET Conference theme: Migrant Today, Leader Tomorrow

  • One winner will be selected. 

Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows: 

  • Preferred: Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (It is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.) 

  • Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc. 

  • Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc. 

DO NOT submit collages; prints such as lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints; computer-generated art; and/or photographs. 

The original artwork must be submitted to the student’s Regional Director for AMET by the deadline of May 10, 2019. No copies will be accepted. To locate your regional director, please go to AMET Regional Director.  No artwork submissions will be returned. 

The student whose artwork is selected will receive . . . 

  • a $500 scholarship to the institution of his/her choice upon high school graduation and proof of enrollment in selected institution

  • the winner’s artwork will be used as the 2019 AMET Conference program cover

  • the student will be recognized in the conference program
