Call for Proposals                                                             

The 2010 Annual AMET Conference is looking for educators, administrators, and other stakeholders to share expertise and teaching skills. We are looking for the very best in professional development workshops and demonstrations of best practices that will support the federal legislation of No Child Left Behind as it relates to the Migrant Education Program. The purpose of these sessions is to support teachers, administrators, support staff, and parents in gaining information, tools and strategies to support student achievement. 

Proposal should be for workshops of an hour in length.  For presenters interested in conducting extended training on specific topics of significant importance, a limited number of sessions will be accepted.  These sessions can be scheduled for two or three  hours in length.  

What Kind of Presentation Is Most Suitable?

The Conference Program Committee is looking for presentations that explain, demonstrate, and exemplify the very best practices in educational and support programs for migrant students, their families and personnel that have direct impact on their success.  Such presentations should teach skills and strategies that can be replicated successfully in the Migrant Education Program.  All presenters are expected to provide participants with handouts or other tangible products summarizing or exemplifying their presentations.

Selection Criteria for Presentation Proposals:

Abstract - The description of the presentation should describe strategies and presentation techniques.  The abstract should be no more than 100 words in length and provide an accurate description and be submitted electronically.  

Other Expectations - All presenters are expected to provide handouts/materials for a total of 75 participants.  A screen, laptop, and LCD projector will be provided. All other materials desired must be provided by the presenter. All presenters must be willing to present at any time during the conference, as scheduled by the Program Committee.  Workshops will be scheduled Thursday, November 11 and Friday, November 12, 2010.  If presenters wish to obtain personal evaluations, they must bring their own evaluation forms.
